Day 14. Two Weeks Of Water Fasting, And What The Results Actually Look Like

Two weeks. Fourteen days, zero food and the scale finally rolled into new territory this morning.

John on day 14 of the 90 day water fast, outside in front of the mission church with the gnome

23.6 pounds in 14 days

The scale on day 14 morning reading 205.0 pounds

The scale said 205.0 flat this morning. We started at 228.6, so that is 23.6 pounds in two weeks, another 0.6 since yesterday. Ten percent of me went first and now we are stacking past it.

The composition numbers keep telling the better story. Body fat percent started at 42.3 and reads 35.8 today. Muscle percent started at 34.5 and reads 36.1, still inching up. The weight going away is coming out of the fat column, not the muscle column. Every daily reading lives on the bloodwork page.

How do I feel? I feel good. I feel amazing. Two weeks without food and I stood in the sun this morning feeling better than I did on day one by a mile.

Listen to your body

That was my message today, because my body has been talking to me all week about one specific thing.

The ketone strip on day 14, still reading at the top of the chart

The ketone strip is still parked at the top of the chart, where it has been since day 8. That part of the machine is running exactly like it should. The part that needed attention was sleep. I started the Celtic salt and electrolytes on day 12, one glass mixed into water in the middle of the day. And every night since, I have woken up in the middle of the night having to go to the bathroom.

Salt holds water for a while then your body lets it go. Mine has been choosing 2 AM for the release. Nothing is wrong. It is just bad scheduling.

So here is the day 14 adjustment. Same glass, same salt, same electrolytes but in the morning instead of the afternoon. Let the water move through me during the day and see if the night goes quiet again. That is what listening to your body actually looks like on a long fast. Small signal, small change then watch what happens.

Two weeks down, seventy six to go

The wall calendar with all fourteen days of August crossed off

Fourteen X marks on the calendar. Today is Friday, the beginning of the weekend and I get to walk into it 23.6 pounds lighter than I started.

That being said, I am gonna let you guys go. Have a good weekend. Till next time. Cheers.

The 90 day fast is doctor supervised with monthly bloodwork. Extended fasting is not something to attempt on your own. Talk to a doctor first.

Quick answers

How much weight can you lose in 2 weeks of water fasting?

John's number is 23.6 pounds in 14 days, from 228.6 down to 205.0. That is 10.3 percent of his starting body weight in two weeks. The first days dropped 2 to 4 pounds each and the pace has now settled around 0.6 to 0.9 pounds a day. His result comes with two important footnotes. He started at 228 pounds and a bigger body loses faster. And his fast is doctor supervised with monthly bloodwork, which is not optional at this length. Every daily reading is on the bloodwork page.

What does two weeks of water fasting feel like?

By day 14 John describes feeling good and even amazing. The hard part was the first week, with the wall around day 3, the cranky phase around day 8 and hunger waves that come and go instead of building forever. Two weeks in, hunger has mostly switched off, his energy is steady and his joints feel quieter than when he started. His ketone strip has read at the top of the chart since day 8, which means his body has fully switched over to burning fat.

When should you take electrolytes on a water fast?

John's experience says earlier in the day. He added Celtic salt and electrolytes on day 12, drinking one glass in the middle of the day and has woken up in the middle of the night to urinate every night since. Sodium holds water for a while and then the body releases it and if that release lands at 2 AM it costs you sleep. His day 14 adjustment is to move the same glass to the morning so the fluid shift happens while he is awake. Same intake, different clock.

Is a two week water fast safe?

Not as a do it yourself project. John is 56, he did baseline bloodwork before day one, his doctor holds stop authority and labs get redrawn about every 30 days. Extended fasting shifts fluid and electrolytes, which is exactly the system that can fail dangerously if nobody is watching. That is why this site publishes his actual lab results and daily readings instead of just the wins. If two weeks sounds appealing, the honest first step is a conversation with a doctor, not an empty fridge.
